Controller International Trade

You will act as a financial business partner for the Managing Director, the Sales Director and the other team members of the various disciplines. The role as Controller International Trade is a broad and diverse role which combines core financial accounting, reporting & control activities with business/commercial controlling, financial planning & analysis and several (finance related) projects. You will also be expected to provide decision support to the team when needed. The role is expected to develop further over time in line with the (growth) ambitions of the BU. Mediq and the International Trade BU are held by a Private Equity company and will give you a lot of opportunities to show initiative and improve existing processes as well as underlying business performance.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Preparing monthly and weekly management reporting:
  • Monthly management reporting pack to Group Finance & Control
  • Weekly sales and order intake reporting and controlling
  • Margin controlling
  • Opex controlling
  • Setting up and maintaining reporting on operational KPI’s (complaints, overdues, productivity, sick leave, etc.)
  • Ad hoc reporting and decision support
• Financial reporting and accounting:
  • Prepare year-end end accounts, reconcile and prepare schedules and assist the auditors with year-end audit.
  • Balance sheet specifications/review
  • VAT, Customs, Intrastat compliance
  • CBS reporting
  • Focal point Group Tax Department (transfer pricing, Corporate Income Tax)
  • Lead local assistant Controller (AR/AP/payrolling/etc.)
• Maintain Mediq control framework ‘lite version’ & ensure compliance with Mediq accounting policy
• Coordinate/lead financial and business planning & control cycle (actuals/budget/forecast/strategy). This is including accommodating the monthly reporting process to Mediq with tight deadlines and clear deliverables (a.o. financial statement upload into Cognos Controller and compiling monthly management report/comments based on monthly BI report).
• Owner for working capital forecasting and cash planning and reporting / analysis / improvement processes, incl. Treasury activities (in close co-operation with Group Treasury).
• Financial link for (transformation) projects, systems/data improvements, inventory optimization, implementation ABC costing model, analysis and advice of investment and commercial proposals, ad hoc analysis and projects
• Actively support strategic decisions by means of sound business analysis
• Cognos Controller and Cognos BI (super)user. Exact, Sumatra system ownership (functional).

Education and Competencies

• (Post) Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Finance/ Economics
• 5+ years of relevant working experience within Controlling and Auditing, preferably in an international setting
• Consulting experience would be welcome
• Affinity with IT systems (such as SAP/Exact, Cognos Controller, Cognos BI/Sumatra)
• Good communication skills, able to influence and convince various levels of professionals
• Take ownership and get things done
• Ability and willingness to take on a broad role, combining both core financial accounting and business controlling
• Ambitious and willing to go the extra mile

Where are you going to work?

You will be a Partner in Business for the International Trade which consists of three business segments: DSN Trade (www.dsntrade.com), the Export channel into non-Mediq geographies and Business to Business NL. This trade channel aspires ambitious international growth in the years ahead. The team covers all functional disciplines (sales, procurement, warehousing, finance, IT, HR, etc) and consists of approx. 32 FTE; a highly dedicated team of young professionals willing embark on this new exciting journey. The BU International Trade is mainly located in Leek, but hybrid working is also supported within the business unit.
