Strategic Sourcing Manager Benelux

Over the last years Mediq has grown fast organically and inorganically, driven by an aggressive M&A strategy. As the company continues to grow, Mediq seeks to create leverage of scale, skill and best practices in its commercial offering. With our European footprint, Mediq’s Sourcing spans across all geographies with a centralized category team and strong local sourcing teams. Mediq is on it’s way to build world-class sourcing function across the organization under the leadership of the VP Sourcing and is now building the Sourcing Organization. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will have the opportunity to take part in this exciting journey and shape the future of sourcing at Mediq. In this role you will be part of the cluster/country team and report directly to Benelux Sourcing Leader.

What are you going to do?

The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for his/her own portfolio of selected suppliers. He she owns the source to contract activities and drives sourcing initiatives within his/her cluster/market. He/she conducts those activities with the goal of improving margins, increase performance and get access to innovation. While securing security of supply and compliance to the ethical standards of Mediq. And develops supplier specific strategy, conducts periodic performance reviews and develops partnership with local suppliers.

He or she is an integrated business partner to local stakeholders, aligns on sourcing requirements and specifications and communicates progress on initiatives. That includes sourcing support to local tenders and alignment on price updates towards customers to secure Mediq’s internal profit margin. He or she also works closely together with global category directors on local implementation of global strategies or initiatives. And updates/reports on progress/results towards the local and global finance community.

Key Accountabilities:

Strategic sourcing

  • Develop supplier/sourcing strategy for assigned supply base
  • Be an integrated sourcing partner to the cluster organisation and work closely with key stakeholders on specifications, sourcing needs and priorities
  • Run tenders, analyse RFP/RFQ data, manage the decision-making process and award business based on objective, pre-aligned criteria and scoring matrix
  • Negotiate and contract suppliers
  • Drive implementation of the supplier contract in Mediq

Contract implementation

  • Develop together with the category manager a supplier purchase price and margin overview per business area
  • Communicate price updates and secure implementation into the systems
  • Manage escalations and disputes on prices and conditions

Supplier relationship management

  • Define, align and implement supplier classification with differentiated management approach.
  • Supplier Account Management for assigned Local Suppliers
  • Manage and review supplier performance (QBRM)
  • Ensure compliance and risk management for assigned suppliers

Revenue Enablement

  • Support strategic/exclusive partnerships for joint business development activities and access to innovation
  • Work closely together with category management, finance and sales on price updates to customers to secure internal profit margins
  • Support local sales/tender team with customer tenders with tender specific pricing and CBT opportunities

Performance

  • Plan and prepare strategic sourcing activities throughout the year
  • Evaluate TCO cost reduction performance for assigned scope versus target, identify gaps and initiate corrective action plans on supplier level
  • Analyse supplier performance (including complaints management), report KPI's and intervene/direct in a timely manner as needed
  • Drive the process of achieving bonusses agreed with suppliers supported by his sales considering contract conditions

  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and state-of-the-art-best practices
  • Understanding of contracting process and contracting law
  • Knowledge of relevant e-procurement tools, processes and systems
  • Ability to persuade, negotiate, collaborate, communicate with individuals/ stakeholders/ governing bodies etc. at all levels
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate with all external parties in a target-oriented, clear, precise and representative manner
  • Skills in relevant MS Office tools

Education & Experience

  • Master Degree
  • More than 8 years of functional and industry-relevant working experience
  • Experience from a buy-for-resale industry is desired
  • Experience in mid-size/large multinational companies with a matrix organization
